Get to know Amanda Kowalski

On the 18th of September at 12.45 P.M, I had the change to sit down and interview Amanda Kowalski. I have known Amanda since 2014 and  we have had several classes together, but I have never gotten the chance to actually sit down and get to know Amanda more as a person. Not only was it a pleasure to interview her,  but what I found out while doing so was a lot of very interesting facts about her, which I appreciated. Amanda is an honest, hardworking and creative individual and I was very impressed by her professionalism when I interviewed her as you will see below.

Question: Where are you from?

Amanda Kowalski:

I am from Gilbert, Arizona

QUESTION: Why did you choose to study in Hawaii?

Amanda Kowalski:

One of the main reasons I chose to go to HPU is because of the scholarships that they offer to students. It helped me financially to come to Hawaii, which was very beneficial, even though is too far from home [interviewee laughs]. So yeah, it just gave me the financial stability to go somewhere else that is not home, but still be paying the same in that state. So I might just go somewhere else where I have never been before, something new, and I don’t regret it at all.

QUESTION: What is your plan after you graduate from HPU?

Amanda Kowalski:

Well, right now I am still trying to figure out what I really want to get into like I have an idea, but I want to know specifically what title I want to hold I guess after I graduate in December, so I am just kind of going to see where it takes me. I am just going to apply for some jobs out there and see if it is something I can do and have the skills for and if it is a good one, I will take it.

QUESTION: Where do you see yourself in 4 to 5 years?

Amanda Kowalski:

Hopefully, I have established a career working with something that I actually want to do for the rest of my life. I do not want to get a job that I hate going to and where I feel like that I am wasting my time. I really want to be able to enjoy my job and grow as a person. Hopefully, I can open up my own marketing or advertising firm, that way I can be able to do what I want and not necessarily listen to what someone else tells me to do. I like to be my own boss [interviewee laughs]

QUESTION: Do you have any regrets in life? If so, which?

Amanda Kowalski:

[interviewee laughs] This is getting deep now! I do not really think I have any  regrets, to be honest. I would say that the things I have done now and in the past have just made me the person I am today and if I have made some mistakes along the way, then that is life. Life happens and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. So no, I do not have any regrets from anything I have done, it just made me the person I am today.

QUESTION: Describe happiness, how would you describe it?

Amanda Kowalski:

Happiness to me means doing something in life that you want to do and love to do, and not something you have to do because of financial stability or anything like that. Happiness also means having good people around you that makes you happy and do not bring you down and things like that. For me that is happiness

QUESTION: What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

Amanda Kowalski:

When I am alone and just driving, I am either just singing to the radio or thinking about my grocery list or other things I need to do. I sometimes think about homework that I should finish since it is due the next day, things like that.

QUESTION: If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?

Amanda Kowalski:

If I could be any animal I would be a marine animal, probably a narwhal because they are pretty cool and not a lot of people know about them. There is something mystic about them, and I am the same way like that, not a lot of people know about me either.

QUESTION: Who is your role model and why?

Amanda Kowalski:

My role model is definitely my mother because I always turn to her for advice or if I need any help with something. So yes, I would say my mother for sure. she always gives me the best advice [interviewee laughs]!

QUESTION: Teach me something in the next 5 minutes

Amanda Kowalski:

[interviewee thinking] Do you know how to whistle? So to whistle [interviewee laughs]! So weird, you just have to make sure that your lip goes all the way out because that gives you the sound that you need, it makes sure you get the sound effect [interviewee laughs] so You just put your lips together and blow. So it feels like a tornado has slipped out of the room

  1. I’ve never heard someone say that they would choose to be a narwhal if they had to choose to be an animal. Interesting. But Amanda is an interesting person so no surprise there haha. Great interview, Anna!
